Kirk Noble Bloodsworth is the first person in the United States to be freed from prison and death row by Post-Conviction DNA testing. Kirk spent 8 years 10 months and 19 days in prison and two years on death row before being exonerated. Later Kirk paved the way in post-conviction DNA testing by lobbying for the Innocent Protection Act, including a provision called the Kirk Bloodsworth Post-Conviction DNA testing program which defrays the cost of the testing and helps free innocent people. The same DNA testing that freed Kirk later led to the arrest and conviction of the real killer of 9-year-old Dawn Hamilton, 10 years after Kirk was released. Today Kirk is a public speaker, goldsmith and jeweler and proud owner of Bloodsstones Creation www.Bloodsstones.com and the subject of a book and a documentary called Bloodsworth: An Innocent Man, by Gregory Bayne. The film is on sale for $15 each and can be viewed on Amazon Prime or On Demand. Kirk is also an honorably discharged Marine.
